Omar wakes up early and sees the sun shining through his window. Today is a very special day because he is going to the mosque. He puts on his favorite clean shirt and brushes his straight black hair. His father smiles and tells him it is time to get ready. Omar feels very excited to go on a big adventure.
Omar and his father walk down the sidewalk toward the mosque. They see many people walking in the same direction, all wearing their best clothes. Omar holds his father's hand tightly as they step over little puddles. The air smells fresh, and the birds are singing in the trees. Everything feels bright and happy on this special Friday morning.
Soon, they reach a big building with a beautiful round dome. Omar looks up at the tall minaret that seems to touch the clouds. He takes off his shoes and places them neatly on the wooden rack. The floor feels soft and cool under his small feet. Omar follows his father into the big, quiet hall.
Inside the mosque, Omar sees many other children and their families. He waves quietly to a little boy who is sitting with his grandfather. Everyone is talking softly and waiting for the prayer to start. Omar sits down on the colorful carpet and waits patiently. He likes how everyone is being so kind and gentle.
It is time for the prayer, and everyone stands up in long, straight lines. Omar stands right next to his father and watches what everyone does. When they bow down, Omar bows his little head just like them. When they kneel on the carpet, Omar follows along very carefully. He feels very proud to be praying with so many friends.
After the prayer is finished, the room stays quiet for a moment. Omar feels very peaceful and happy inside his heart. He looks at his father, who gives him a big, proud hug. The mosque feels like a very special place to be. Omar realizes that praying makes him feel calm and strong.
Everyone begins to walk outside into the warm sunlight again. Omar meets some of his father's friends and says hello with a smile. One kind neighbor gives Omar a sweet date to eat. They all talk and laugh together in the mosque courtyard. Omar loves meeting so many people who are part of his community.
As they walk back home, Omar tells his father how much he enjoyed the day. He can't wait to go back to the mosque again next week. He learned that the mosque is a place for prayer and friends. Omar feels very lucky to have such a wonderful community. He falls asleep that night with a big smile on his face.
