Maryam's Big Helping Hand
Maryam notices her mother is very tired from doing all the housework alone and decides to help. Together, they tackle the chores, turning a long day of work into a fun team activity. By finishing early, they gain extra time for a special afternoon of play at the park.
Maryam lived in a bright house with her loving mother. She had beautiful black curly hair and a smile that lit up the room. Every Saturday morning, the house was filled with the sounds of cleaning and organizing. Maryam usually spent her time playing with her favorite building blocks. She watched as her mother moved from room to room with a heavy basket.
Today, Maryam noticed that her mother looked much more tired than usual. Her mother sighed as she looked at the tall pile of clothes on the sofa. There were toys scattered across the rug and crumbs on the kitchen table. Maryam realized how much work it took to keep their home looking nice. She wanted to do something special to make her mother smile today.
Maryam stood up and decided it was time to be a big helper. She started by picking up all her colorful blocks and putting them into their bin. One by one, she gathered her dolls and lined them up neatly on the shelf. The living room rug began to look clear and tidy once again. When she finished, she felt a little spark of pride in her heart.
Next, Maryam walked into the laundry room where her mother was sorting clothes. "Can I help you fold the towels, Mommy?" Maryam asked with a hopeful look. Her mother smiled warmly and showed her how to align the corners perfectly. Maryam carefully folded the soft blue and white towels into neat little squares. They worked side by side, making the big pile disappear much faster.
After the laundry, Maryam grabbed a small cloth to help in the kitchen. She wiped the crumbs off the wooden table until it was shiny and clean. She even made sure to push all the chairs back into their proper places. Her mother was busy washing the breakfast dishes at the nearby sink. Maryam felt like a member of a very important two-person team.
The biggest task left was sweeping the hallway where the autumn leaves had blown in. Maryam held the dustpan steady while her mother swept the floor with a big broom. They laughed as they chased a stray leaf that tried to flutter away. Together, they made the hallway sparkle in the afternoon sunlight. Her mother gave Maryam a big hug for being such a hard worker.
Finally, all the chores were finished and the whole house was quiet and clean. Her mother sat down on the sofa and let out a long, happy breath. "Thank you for all your help today, Maryam," she said while patting the seat next to her. Because they worked together, the work was done much earlier than usual. Maryam felt happy knowing she had helped her mother feel much less tired.
With their extra free time, Maryam and her mother went outside to the park. They flew a kite and ran through the green grass under the bright blue sky. Maryam learned that helping at home was not just a chore, but a way to show love. She promised to be her mother's best helper every single day from now on. Helping others made Maryam feel like the strongest girl in the whole world.
